H.E. Mr. Sengphet Houngboungnuang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to S.R of Vietnam and his spouse together with Deputy Chief of Mission, Counsellors, diplomats and their families participated in the ASEAN FAMILY DAY on August 8, 2021 in Hybrid platform.
The event combined of the Flag Salutation Ceremony on the Occasion of the 54th Anniversary of the Establishment of ASEAN and the ASEAN Family event which were attended by H.E. Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, H.E. Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the SR. of Viet Nam, ASEAN SOM Leader of Viet Nam, Madame Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, Spouse of H.E. Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the SR of Viet Nam; Honorary President of ASEAN Women's Circle in Hanoi, Members of the AWCH Executive Committee, Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam and Ambassadors, Chargé d' affaires and spouses, members of Embassies of ASEAN Member States with residence in Hanoi and their families, to attend in online platform.
On this opportunity, The Embassy of Lao PDR had contributed a traditional performance and providing some local products to show in this event.
The ASEAN FAMILY DAY 2021 was co-hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the ASEAN Women’s Circle in Hanoi with the them on “ASEAN Stands united against COVID-19”. Normally, the ASEAN FAMILY DAY is annually held in practical event but this year it was held in hybrid platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The Embassy of Lao PDR in Hanoi hosted a reception on December 1, 2020 to celebrate the 45th National Day of Lao PDR (December 2, 1975 – December 2, 2020).
Prominent among the guests were H.E. Madam Tong Thi Phong, Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and Politburo members.
Addressing the event, H.E. Mr. Sengphet Houngboungnuang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to S.R of Vietnam, stressed that the founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in 45 years ago opened up a new era in which the Lao people can decide their own fate and become the real owner of a free and independent country and over the past 45 years, under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), the country has experienced remarkable changes in all fields, with political stability, ensured social order, unceasingly socio-economic development and high economic growth.
The ambassador expressed his thanks on behalf of the Party, Government and people of the Lao PDR to the Party, Government and people of S.R of Vietnam for their great support and valuable assistance for Laos’ revolutionary cause both during the resistance war for national salvation and the current period of national defense and construction.
He emphasized that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have been unceasingly strengthened. In the context of a changing world and negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Laos and Vietnam continue to do their best to constantly develop the bilateral partnership in all fields.
In her remarks, H.E. Madam Tong Thi Phong, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly,congratulated Laos on its great historic accomplishments in national defense and development.
She said under the close instruction of leaders of the two countries, the Vietnam-Laos cooperation has been expanding, bringing practical benefits to their people, despite the rapid and complicated developments in the world and regional situations. She highlighted increasingly trustful and close political and diplomatic ties, along with effective economic-security-defense-border cooperation, which contributed to ensuring political stability and social order and safety in each country. The two countries have always coordinated and supported each other at regional and international forums.
Phong wished the fraternal Lao people even greater achievements in the cause of national defense and development, and in implementing the Resolution of the 10th Congress of the LPRP, towards a successful 11th Congress of the LPRP.
